Other Medical Complications

As people with CF age, researchers are gaining new insights into the long-term effects of cystic fibrosis. Greater attention is being paid to these, previously unrecognized, CF-associated diseases including:

• allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA)
• arthritis
• congenital bilateral absence of the vas deferens (CBAVD)
• cystic fibrosis-related diabetes (CFRD)
• liver disease
• nasal polyps
• osteoporosis
• pancreatitis
